This article aims to address the issue of community police in the State of Paraná, as well as its historical context and the benefits that it has brought to the population of Paraná. For this, we will bring a historical overview of the police performance in order to exemplify the factors that motivated the changes that have occurred over time in the police. Thus, it will be possible to provide a broader view of the issues that involve the performance of community police, as well as identify the main reasons why community policing is developed, and what is its importance to society. As a result, we can say that it is necessary to establish a relationship of trust between the community and the police so that different objectives can be achieved such as fighting crime, solving problems, patrolling in areas with the highest incidence of incidents, thefts and petty crimes that occur with some frequency in areas of greater vulnerability. In view of the above, it is possible for the community to participate in programs to combat crimes in general, whether through complaints, or even ideas and solutions exposed in meetings designed to listen to the population so that they can better understand the problems of each community.
