Abstract

The street race is today one of the most popular sports in the world, the vast majority being amateur athletes, and many of them seek, as well as professional athletes, a way to improve the biomechanics of running and consequently its performance to have less wear on their evidence. There are several training methodologies to achieve this goal, one of those ways is strength training, which has proven important for improving the performance of athletes, reducing the incidence of injury and improving performance. The aim of this work is to analyze in the literature the various strength training methodologies and their relationship with the improvement of running biomechanics, emphasizing possible benefits in the economy of street running. The results showed that strength training was important for improving the performance of endurance runners. This improvement seems to be related to the neuromuscular adaptations generated by strength training, regardless of the manifestations and types of forces trained.
