Objective: To understand how nursing practice can contribute to pregnant women's adherence to prenatal care. Methods: This is an integrative literature review conducted using the PubMed/MEDLINE, SciELO, LILACS, and Dialnet databases, covering materials in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Results: Adherence to prenatal care is influenced by socioeconomic, institutional, and familial factors, as well as the quality of care provided. In this context, the nurse plays a fundamental role in the early identification of pregnant women, the provision of humanized care, health education practices, and the strengthening of the bond with the multidisciplinary team. Conclusion: Nurses are responsible for monitoring pregnant women throughout the prenatal period particularly in low-risk cases and utilize dialogue and personal connection to address questions, alleviate fears, and implement health education practices that positively impact the quality of care and maternal-fetal health.
