This study aimed to analyze the role of nurses in preventing obstetric violence during prenatal care consultations, highlighting their contribution to promoting humanized, ethical care that respects pregnant women's rights. This is a descriptive literature review with a qualitative approach, based on scientific publications related to the topic, considering studies published between 2022 and 2026 in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. The results showed that nurses play a fundamental role in preventing obstetric violence through health education, welcoming care, active listening, effective communication, and the development of a trusting relationship with pregnant women. The findings also indicated that prenatal consultations provide important opportunities to inform women about their rights, encourage their participation in decision-making, and strengthen their autonomy throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. It is concluded that nursing practice is essential to preventing disrespectful practices and promoting humanized care. Therefore, investment in professional training and the adoption of evidence-based care practices that respect women's dignity are necessary.
