The cashew tree (Anacardium occidentale), native to Brazil, is widely recognized for its nuts and fruits, while its bark has attracted interest due to its bioactive potential, rich in tannins, flavonoids, and saponins with antioxidant, antimicrobial, and astringent properties. This study aimed to investigate the phytochemical profile of cashew bark and assess its potential therapeutic applications in cosmetics. The methodology included the collection of bark, drying, grinding, maceration in a 50% hydroalcoholic solution, and filtration to obtain a homogeneous glycolic extract. The results showed that the extract has a pH close to 4, ideal for products aimed at combination and oily skin. Additionally, phytotoxicity and antimicrobial activity tests were conducted to confirm the safety and efficacy of the astringent facial tonic. Phytotoxicity was assessed on tomato and lettuce seeds, and the antimicrobial test on Petri dishes, with both tests reinforcing the safety and effectiveness of the extract. It is concluded that cashew bark represents a promising alternative for natural, effective, and safe cosmetic formulations with potential for future therapeutic applications.
