Sexuality is a fundamental dimension of human life, influencing identity, self-esteem, affection, relationships, and quality of life. However, people with physical disabilities often face psychological and social barriers that hinder the full experience of their sexuality. Among the most common obstacles are prejudice, ableism, social stigma, difficulties related to body image, low self-esteem, and the misconception that people with disabilities do not have sexual desires or needs. In this context, the present study analyzed the main psychological and social challenges faced by people with physical disabilities regarding their sexuality, addressing aspects such as self-esteem, prejudice, relationships, mental health, inclusion, and the role of Psychology. The methodology was based on a narrative literature review, using scientific publications available in the SciELO database, focusing on studies published between 2016 and 2026. The results revealed the prevalence of attitudinal barriers, infantilization, and gaps in professional training, demonstrating how Psychology can contribute to promoting autonomy, inclusion, mental health, and respect for the sexuality of people with physical disabilities.
