This experience report aims to describe the process of constructing a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on the use of foam dressings in the treatment of wounds with moderate to heavy exudate. This activity was developed in an academic context, based on a literature review and the integration of theoretical and practical knowledge acquired during nursing training. The development process involved gathering scientific evidence, analyzing the indications and contraindications of the dressing, organizing the steps of the procedure, and standardizing care practices. In addition, aspects related to the clinical assessment of the wound, biosafety, and the professional responsibility of the nursing team were considered. As a result, a structured protocol was developed, with clear technical language applicable to clinical practice, contributing to patient safety, quality of care, and strengthening professional practice based on scientific evidence.
