This article explores the social challenges faced by students with Down Syndrome, emphasizing the need for a sensitive and comprehensive approach. The study provides a review of the existing literature aimed at understanding the social and didactic impact of including these students. Some relevant data were gathered from a bibliographic review of a qualitative research study that sought to understand the perspectives of educators and specialists working with this population. The analysis also reveals topics that discuss individualized support for these students, as well as the impacts of school- family collaboration. In this context, it is relevant to consider the training of teachers, the adaptation of the curriculum and methodologies, as well as addressing the importance of the professional educator. The article points to the need for further studies and the development of public educational policies that ensure inclusive and quality education.
