Abstract

This study analyzes nursing care in mental health within the primary care context, focusing on practices developed by nurses, challenges encountered, issues related to professional training, and integration with specialized services. An integrative literature review was conducted, including 31 articles published between 2014 and 2024, selected from LILACS, SciELO, BDENF, MEDLINE, and Scopus databases. The results showed that, despite the conceptual advances of the Psychiatric Reform, significant challenges persist such as insufficient training, work overload, and fragmentation of care. Mental health nursing practices include user reception, nursing consultations, home visits, and group activities, with gradual incorporation of psychosocial approaches. Strengthening mental health nursing care in primary care requires investments in professional training, continuing education, and implementation of integrated care networks.
