MALE BREAST CANCER: A LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract

Introduction: Male Breast Cancer is a neoplasm considered extremely rare and with few studies about its treatment, this is due to low adherence of men in relation to exams for early diagnosis or refusal of surgery. Therefore, it is important to know about MBC and therapeutic approaches to improve the survival of these patients. Objective: inform health professionals about the care of patients with MBC. Methodology: This is a unique bibliographic search on the PubMed electronic platform, between the years 2017 to 2024, with the keywords: "mastectomy" "male breast cancer". With a total of 70 articles, in which 18 articles were used as bibliographic reference. Results: Male breast cancer has reduced survival rates, due to older age at diagnosis, advanced disease at its presentation and limited studies on management. Conclusion: Early recognition of the disease is essential, and it is extremely important to encourage the creation of screening measures for CMM, associated with more studies on the subject and public policies aimed at health education.
