Abstract

Introduction: Composite resins are widely used in dentistry due to their aesthetic and mechanical qualities, and it is essential to understand how different compositions and classifications of resins influence flexural strength and elastic modulus. Objective: to measure the flexural strength and elastic modulus of three brands of monochromatic resins, comparing them with a conventional nano-hybrid resin. Methods: The study was based on previous research that highlights the relevance of the composition and morphology of resin filler particles in defining their mechanical properties. The research consisted of an in vitro experimental study, with ten specimens (2mm x 2mm x 25mm) of each material were made according to the manufacturers' recommendations, totaling 40 specimens were made using the resins Palfique Omnichroma, Vittra APS Unique, Atos Unichroma and Atos DA2 (control group). These specimens were subjected to three-point flexural strength tests, following ISO 4049/2009 standards. Data analysis was carried out using appropriate statistical methods to compare the differences between the resins tested. Results: showed that the Palfique Omnichroma resin presented the lowest flexural resistance, while the Atos Unichroma resin demonstrated the highest maximum deformation, suggesting greater flexibility. Conclusion: These different characteristics reinforce the importance of considering the specific characteristics of each material when choosing resins for clinical use.
