Abstract

The increasing adoption of telemedicine interventions for the monitoring of chronic conditions has demonstrated significant potential in improving clinical outcomes and efficiency of care. This study conducts an integrative literature review to assess the effectiveness of telemedicine technologies in the management of chronic conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, arterial hypertension and chronic respiratory diseases. The analysis encompasses recent research exploring the ability of telemedicine to improve the control of chronic conditions, increase adherence to treatment and reduce the costs associated with the management of these conditions. The results indicate that telemedicine interventions are effective in reducing clinical markers, such as HbA1c levels and blood pressure, and in decreasing exacerbations of respiratory diseases. In addition, telemedicine contributes to greater adherence to treatment and presents a significant reduction in the costs of care. However, challenges related to technology and integration with health systems need to be addressed to optimize the benefits of telemedicine.
