Abstract

Embryo transfer (ET) in cattle is one of the main biotechnologies applied to animal reproduction, used to accelerate genetic gain and improve herd productivity. This study aims to review the literature on the technique, addressing its stages, factors influencing success, practical applications, and current challenges. The methodology consisted of a narrative literature revi ew based on scientific articles, books, and technical publications. The results indicate that ET efficiency depends on multiple factors, such as embryo quality, female physiological condition, and reproductive management. It is concluded that, although consolidated, the technique continues to evolve, mainly through advances in in vitro fertilization and embryo cryopreservation.
