CONTINUING EDUCATION OF NURSING PROFESSIONALS IN THE BRAZILIAN UNIFIED HEALTH SYSTEM (SUS): AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Abstract

Introduction: The National Policy on Permanent Health Education (PNEPS) is considered an important strategy of Brazil’s Unified Health System (SUS). It aims to contribute to the organization of health services by promoting the qualification and transformation of healthcare practices through the training and development of professionals and workers in the field. The goal is to foster integration between education and service, strengthening the fundamental principles of SUS. Objectives: To analyze how Permanent Education is implemented in the training of health professionals within the SUS framework. Methods: This research adopted a qualitative approach based on a bibliographic review of Permanent Education for SUS professionals. According to Peres (2024), the integrative review is a type of systematic review that seeks to analyze studies with different methodologies, whether experimental or non-experimental, with the aim of integrating their results. Data analysis will seek to identify the impacts of the Permanent Education strategy on professional qualification and the improvement of services provided to the population. Results and Discussion: The study highlights the importance of Permanent Education and its impact on the quality of work performed by health professionals at all levels of SUS care. Conclusion: It is confirmed that Permanent Health Education is an essential tool for nursing professionals, providing greater knowledge of techniques and practices in their daily routines.
