This article explores the crucial role of the judicial mediator in preliminary hearings at the Special Criminal Court by fostering dialogue between the parties in conflict. Self-composition, facilitated by the mediator, is a natural consequence for those seeking effective social pacification through consensus. The mediator, an impartial third party, creates an environment conducive to dialogue, employing self-composition techniques to help the parties understand their interests and reach mutually acceptable solutions. Their work, grounded in professional ethics, legal and communication knowledge, aims to empower the parties and re-establish communication, which goes beyond merely obtaining agreements. The mediator's qualification and mastery of communication techniques are essential for the success of mediation, which has the ultimate goal of building fair and respectful dialogue.
