Ectopic pregnancy occurs when the fertilized egg implants itself outside the uterine cavity, usually in the fallopian tubes, posing a risk to the life of the pregnant woman due to the possibility of rupture and internal bleeding. This condition causes pregnancy loss, damage to the fallopian tubes, and significant emotional impact. Early detection and monitoring by nursing are essential to avoid complications, although there are challenges such as the absence of standardized protocols and lack of knowledge about risk factors. This study aims to investigate the early detection and monitoring of ectopic pregnancy by nursing. This is a literature review, carried out between April 2024 and June 2025, with analysis of 17 scientific articles. The discussion emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis, with the use of transvaginal ultrasound and beta-hCG measurement, to prevent worsening. Factors such as pelvic inflammatory disease, tubal surgeries, and use of IUD increase vulnerability. Treatment varies between medical or surgical approaches, depending on the clinical picture. It is concluded that ectopic pregnancy is a high-risk condition that requires early detection, adequate management and emotional support. The role of nursing is fundamental in identifying signs, continuous monitoring and effective communication with the multidisciplinary team.
