This article examines the effectiveness of public policies aimed at the legal protection of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Brazil, with an emphasis on the context of the municipality of Dianópolis, in the state of Tocantins. The research is based on current legislation, academic studies, and data from official agencies, with the objective of identifying key advances and challenges in the implementation of these policies. Through the analysis of institutional documents, including reports and public data provided by the Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS), significant obstacles were identified regarding the provision of specialized services, access to early diagnosis, and enforcement of inclusion policies. Although the normative framework reflects meaningful progress, the lack of adequate infrastructure and the shortage of qualified professionals hinder the effectiveness of these policies. In light of this scenario, the study proposes improvements in the implementation of public policies, emphasizing the need for continued professional training and the strengthening of monitoring and enforcement mechanisms to ensure the rights of individuals with ASD.
