METHOD TO DIAGNOSE MALNUTRITION AND ITS OUTCOMES

Abstract

Introduction: Malnutrition is defined by nutrient deficiency, causing changes in body composition. Objective: Run the GLIM tool for malnutrition and observe the outcomes. Methodology: The present research determined as quantitative, prospective and transversal, where the study population was the participants admitted to a university hospital, from June 2020 to August 2020. It is carried out through the GLIM criterion tool, with admission in the hospital sector within 3 days. First constituted with nutritional screening to NRS 2002 (Nutritional Risk Tracking) and then followed for GLIM criteria, with etiological and phenotype criteria, with at least 1 criterion of each. Results: With the application of the GLIM method, it was possible to identify malnutrition a little more compared to BMI. However, it is worth noting that an additional investigation was carried out on the patient in a more agile and careful manner.
