BURIED BUMPER SYNDROME: A CASE REPORT

Abstract

Buried bumper syndrome (BBS) is a complication resulting from percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy. It consists of the growth of gastric mucosa over the internal bulkhead of the gastrostomy with its placement anywhere in the path formed by the tube, from the layers of the gastric wall to those of the abdominal wall. With an incidence ranging from 0.9% to 8.8%, it is typically late (after 3 to 6 months), but early cases have also been described, such as after 15 to 30 days of gastrostomy.Buried bumper syndrome (BBS) is a complication resulting from percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy.
