EPIDEMIOLOGICAL PROFILE IN PATIENTS SEEN IN THE DERMATOLOGY SECTOR IN A CLINIC SCHOOL OF SALVADOR

Introduction: There is a high prevalence of dermatological pathologies, which have significant impacts on the patients’ quality of life, so it is necessary that have knowledge about the most prevalent pathologies. Objective: To evaluate the epidemiological profile and describe the prevalence of skin diseases in patients treated at the UniFTC school clinic. Methods: This is a descriptive, quantitative, retrospective, cross-sectional study, applied to patients treated at the dermatology service of the UniFTC school clinic in Salvador-Bahia in 2021, and its main source of data is medical records, that will be analyzed in Microsoft Excel. Results: Data collection, carried out from February to November 2021, with 1181 medical records analyzed, of these 167 were excluded because they did not meet the inclusion criteria, thus totaling 1014 patients included in the research. It was observed in relation to the variable of sex, that the female is predominant (67.06%), in relation to the color black is the most prevalent (47.84%), the age group that was most attended was from 42 to 59 years of age (30.25%) and most of the patients treated were from the Capital of Bahia (81.97%). A total of 1608 dermatological diagnoses were recorded, with an average of 1.58 diagnoses per patient, benign neoplasms present in 17.54% of visits, followed by acne vulgaris, dermatophytosis, seborrheic dermatitis, pityriasis versicolor, telogen effluvium, post-inflammatory dyschromia, contact dermatitis, melasma and atopic dermatitis. Conclusion: It is extremely important to identify the prevalence among dermatological diagnoses, as it is an important tool in the evaluation and knowledge of the epidemiological profile of the population served at the ambulatory, to promote quality public policies aimed at educating future doctors, as well planning in health.
