This study presents an innovative approach to treating pressure injuries through the development of an adhesive dressing made from polymer blends of chitosan and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), incorporated with Aloe vera gel. The proposal combines the bioactive, wound-healing, and antimicrobial properties of chitosan and Aloe vera with the mechanical strength, film-forming ability, and adhesiveness of PVA. To evaluate quality and functionality, the study conducted physicochemical tests, absorption capacity analysis, in situ adhesion testing, and microbiological assessment. The dressing exhibited an average weight of 0.44 ± 0.011 g, a moisture content of 12.17 ± 0.24%, an absorption capacity of 37.14 ± 2.8%, and in situ adhesion exceeding five hours. Microbiological analysis revealed a low microbial load, with a total aerobic count of 5 ± 1 × 10¹ CFU/g; counts below 1 × 10¹ CFU/g for molds, yeasts, and bile-tolerant Gram-negative bacteria; and the absence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and Clostridium spp. The results met the limits established by the Brazilian Pharmacopoeia, indicating adequate microbiological safety. It is concluded that the dressing possesses functional characteristics and promising therapeutic potential for the care of pressure injuries.
