Ecotourism has been recognized as an important strategy for promoting sustainable development, especially in regions with natural resources that have tourism potential. This study aimed to analyze the ecotourism potential of the Cabala, Nzenzo, and Mpambo Nzinga Nzambi caves, assessing their natural, environmental, and tourism characteristics, as well as their contribution to sustainable local development in the municipalities of Negage, Bembe, and Ambuíla, Uíge Province, Angola. The research adopted a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory approach based on literature review, documentary research, and fieldwork activities. During the field activities, techniques such as direct observation, semi-structured interviews, photographic records, and geographic coordinate collection using a Garmin GPS device were employed. The results revealed that the caves present relevant geological, environmental, and landscape characteristics for the development of ecotourism, scientific tourism, and geotourism activities. The findings also indicated that these areas may contribute to the creation of economic opportunities, enhancement of local resources, and strengthening of local communities. However, limitations related to infrastructure, accessibility, signage, and limited tourism promotion were identified. It was concluded that the studied caves have significant potential for promoting sustainable local development, requiring planning strategies, conservation measures, and tourism valorization initiatives.
