Abstract

Anterior tooth loss, especially in young people, compromises not only facial and smile aesthetics but also phonetic and occlusal functions. In many cases, prolonged absence of an anterior tooth leads to imbalances in the dental arch, requiring interdisciplinary approaches. Indirect restorations of the RDTT type – Direct Heat-Treated Restorations – emerge as a viable alternative to ceramics, especially in contexts with financial limitations, offering good aesthetics, mechanical resistance, and lower cost. The objective of this work is to report a clinical case of anterior aesthetic and functional rehabilitation using fiberglass posts and full crowns in RDTT, associated with the adaptation of a provisional removable partial denture (RPD), in a patient with a history of early tooth loss. A 53-year-old male patient presented at the teaching clinic of the Federal University of Maranhão (Clinic IV) reporting the loss of tooth 11 due to childhood trauma and partial rehabilitation with an inadequate provisional RPD. Vestibularization and extrusion of teeth 12 and 21 were observed, in addition to gingival inflammation due to restorative overcontouring and poor prosthetic adaptation. Treatment involved cementation of fiberglass posts, coronal re-anatomization with composite resin, preparation for full crowns, and fabrication of RDTT-type restorations – Direct Heat-Treated Restorations. The removable partial denture was relined and adjusted for better function and aesthetics during the provisional period. Rehabilitation with RDTT associated with planning and use of fiberglass posts demonstrated good functional and aesthetic results. The technique stands out as an accessible and efficient solution for teaching clinics and patients with limited resources, integrating into the treatment plan for future adequate definitive rehabilitation.
