Abstract

Objective: To describe what Liver Cirrhosis is and what its complications are, emphasizing that early diagnosis can help prevent them. Methodology: The selection of articles was carried out in the PubMed, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) and Virtual Health Library (VHL) databases. Result: 50 articles were found, in the end 15 articles were used for discussion, concentrated between 2018 and 2023. The authors of the studies showed that the best way to end the disease is to invest in its prevention, preventing serious cases and complications of Liver Cirrhosis. Conclusion: The treatment of advanced complications of cirrhosis, such as liver failure and liver cancer, is extremely costly and consumes many healthcare resources. By promoting early diagnosis and prevention, it is possible to reduce these substantial costs, allocating resources more efficiently and improving the sustainability of health systems.
