ADOLESCENTS' KNOWLEDGE ABOUT SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS, CHALLENGES AND TRAINING PROCESSES: A LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract

The aim of this article is to describe the knowledge, challenges and training processes of teachers and health professionals in relation to Sexually Transmitted Infections. The methodology used is a literature review that uses databases from Google Scholar, BVS-BIREME-LILACS, SCIELO, and MEDLINE-PUBMED. The results address a deficit in knowledge, which is hindered by sociocultural issues, and therefore demonstrate that there are many challenges to be overcome, among which the qualification of health professionals and teachers stands out, since forms of health education must be sought to reach this population. Thus, it is clear that the importance of increasing knowledge about STIs and the need for strategies to raise awareness and prevent STIs among the young population are essential for the prevention and control of this health condition in this population.
