Abstract

The present study sought to evaluate the efficacy and safety of new pharmacological approaches in the treatment of type 2 diabetes (DM2), through a comprehensive analysis of randomized and observational clinical studies. Efficacy in glycemic control, body weight reduction, improvement in insulin sensitivity, cardiovascular outcomes and safety profile were investigated as main outcomes. The results revealed a significant reduction in hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels in the groups treated with the new therapies, indicating improvement in glycemic control. Additionally, a decrease in body weight was observed in patients undergoing the new approaches, contributing to the management of obesity associated with T2DM. Improvement in insulin sensitivity was evidenced, suggesting a direct influence on the pathophysiological mechanism of the disease. Cardiovascular outcomes demonstrated a significant reduction in cardiovascular adverse events in the groups treated with the new therapies, implying a beneficial impact on the cardiovascular health of T2DM patients. The safety profile was considered favorable, with a lower incidence of serious adverse events and better tolerability of new therapies. Taken together, the results of this analysis highlight the efficacy and safety of new pharmacological approaches in the treatment of T2DM, addressing multiple aspects of the disease and its associated complications. These findings provide fundamental information for making informed therapeutic decisions and have significant implications for improving clinical outcomes and quality of life for T2DM patients.
