The study analyzes motivational strategies as a factor influencing the development of healthcare professionals at Mavalane General Hospital in Maputo from 2023 to 2025. A predominantly quantitative approach, supported by qualitative methods, was adopted, with an applied, descriptive, and exploratory design, using the case study method. The study involved 34 healthcare professionals. Data were processed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 16.0, with Excel used to support the preparation of graphs. The results reveal that 94.12% (32/34) of the participants do not recognize the existence of an implemented motivational strategy at the hospital; 82.35% (28/34) consider satisfaction and motivation relevant factors for professional performance; and 73.53% (25/34) report not having benefited from career progression after completing their academic training. It is concluded that the perceived absence of structured motivational strategies, combined with limitations in career progression, represents a challenge to professional motivation and development. The study highlights the need for an integrated institutional policy that combines professional recognition, supportive supervision, continuous training, career progression, and appropriate incentives in order to strengthen the motivation, development, and performance of healthcare professionals.
