Introduction: Among the various areas of nursing practice, emergency care is particularly important. Emergency and Urgent Care Services (EES) are fundamental to healthcare delivery, and are known within the Unified Health System (SUS) as coordinated services across multiple care settings. The complexity of emergency and urgent care is due to the need for qualified professionals. Various health conditions, whether acute or exacerbated by chronic conditions, clinical, surgical, or trauma, require skilled management. Therefore, understanding how to manage an acute myocardial infarction is essential to ensuring qualified professional care within emergency and urgent care. Objectives: To investigate the role of nursing professionals in caring for patients suffering from Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI). Methodological Aspects: This literature review will compare and evaluate the performance of nurses in emergency care in the case of an acute myocardial infarction. Data collection will take place between August and September of this year, using the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Virtual Health Library (VHL), and Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) databases. The inclusion criteria will be: national articles in Portuguese, with a full abstract and a clear presentation of the subject in question; the accuracy of the presented data, including references or other publications related to the topic. Also, articles available free of charge and in full in the databases will be excluded, with articles that do not meet the aforementioned inclusion criteria. Exclusion criteria will be articles that do not focus on nursing, articles not available in Portuguese, articles without relevant results, and research using unreliable data sources. Expected Results: This literature review is expected to clearly identify and describe the role of nurses in caring for patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI), highlighting the importance of rapid, safe, and humane care in the emergency setting. The aim is to gather information that highlights key nursing practices, from early recognition of signs and symptoms, immediate interventions, and ongoing support during patient stabilization. Furthermore, it is expected to demonstrate the importance of professional training and multidisciplinary teamwork in reducing complications, mortality, and length of hospital stay for patients with AMI. The results obtained are intended to contribute to the strengthening of evidence-based practices, providing support that can serve as a basis for future research and the improvement of care protocols in the emergency setting. Conclusion: Given the above, it can be concluded that the role of nurses in caring for patients suffering from Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) is extremely important, as it involves not only immediate and qualified care but also actions aimed at preventing complications and promoting patient recovery. Technical and scientific knowledge, combined with rapid and effective decision-making, allows for a safe and humane approach, reducing morbidity and mortality rates. Therefore, investing in the ongoing training of nursing professionals and the implementation of care protocols is essential to ensure excellent care, contributing significantly to improving patients' quality of life and the efficiency of emergency and urgent care services.
