The state of Amazonas faces significant challenges in ensuring access to justice, with key issues including vast territorial dimensions, precarious infrastructure, and cultural diversity. The dependence on river transport to reach remote areas and the coexistence of formal and informal justice systems are crucial points of this analysis. Technological infrastructure represents one of the main challenges directly affecting the digitalization of the judiciary in Amazonas. In Brazil, the Electronic Judicial Process (PJe) and virtual hearings are platforms that help accelerate legal proceedings, reduce costs, and improve access to justice. In many areas of Amazonas, especially in riverside and Indigenous communities, lack of internet access or limited connectivity infrastructure are major issues. This lack of a stable connection hinders the implementation of digital tools, virtual hearings, and online case monitoring. Furthermore, the high cost of establishing telecommunications infrastructure in remote regions poses a significant barrier for both companies and the government, which face financial constraints.
