Abstract

In recent decades, orthodontics has undergone significant transformations with the adoption of digital technologies. This study evaluates the adoption and integration of these technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of orthodontics among dentists specialized in orthodontics registered with CRO-PI. The exploratory research, with a quantitative and qualitative approach, used a questionnaire distributed via Google Forms, reaching 50 professionals. The data analyzes the perceptions and challenges faced in digital clinical practice. Of those interviewed, 6% still use traditional techniques, while 78% have adopted the digital workflow for treatment planning. Additionally, 48% of orthodontists have more than five years of experience, and the majority (46%) are between 18 and 32 years old. In terms of education, 8% hold a doctorate and 16% a master’s degree, with a balanced gender distribution (48% men and 52% women). In conclusion, the adoption of digital technologies in orthodontics represents a significant revolution, providing benefits for both professionals and patients. Although 6% of orthodontists still resist this transition, influenced by factors such as cost and education, the study highlights the importance of promoting continuous education and support to facilitate this digital transition.
