This study aimed to analyze the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of infant mortality in the municipality of Santarém, Pará, from 2020 to 2024. It was characterized as a descriptive, quantitative, and epidemiological study, developed from a cross-sectional design. Data were extracted via the TABNET module on DATASUS and exported to Microsoft Excel for quantitative evaluation and analysis. During the analyzed period, the infant mortality rate was 15.69 deaths per 1,000 live births, with a total of 506 deaths. The results showed that the most affected demographic groups were males (55.73%), neonates (74.51%), preterm infants (63.60%), and infants with low birth weight (61.54%). The leading cause of death was certain conditions originating in the perinatal period (64.43%). Among preventable causes, deaths predominantly stemmed from inadequate care for the newborn (37.78%), during pregnancy (26.63%), and during childbirth (20.65%). These findings underscore the importance of expanding epidemiological and clinical research to continuously support decision-making and improve health interventions within the municipality.
