Reverse logistics has gained strategic importance in organizations due to the increasing generation of waste, the need for environmental preservation, and the search for greater efficiency in production processes. In this context, this article aims to analyze how companies can improve their reverse logistics systems, ensuring the proper return of post-consumer products and contributing to the sustainability of their operations. The research is characterized as a qualitative literature review, based on books, academic studies, and legislation related to the subject. The analysis demonstrated that reverse logistics, when integrated into organizational strategy and culture, can provide economic, environmental, and competitive benefits, particularly through waste reduction, material reuse, efficient resource utilization, and the strengthening of institutional image. It was also found that technologies associated with Logistics 4.0 can improve the planning, control, and efficiency of reverse flows. However, their effectiveness depends on employee training, consumer awareness, adequate infrastructure, and cooperation among supply chain agents. It is concluded that reverse logistics is an important sustainable management tool capable of reconciling operational efficiency, competitiveness, and socio-environmental responsibility.
