Economic and Financial Analysis. Angolan Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs). Satisfaction Levels

Abstract

The present study aims to analyze the level of satisfaction of partners and/or managers of Angolan Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in the provinces of Luanda, Bengo, and Cuanza Norte regarding the use of Financial Statements (2016–2018). To achieve the proposed objectives, a bibliographic, exploratory, and descriptive methodology was adopted, using a quantitativequalitative approach. Although both perspectives were considered, greater emphasis was placed on the quantitative approach. Data were collected through questionnaire surveys administered to 284 partners and/or managers of companies, as well as through five interviews. Regarding the questionnaires, data processing was based on statistical procedures, while the interviews were analyzed through content analysis techniques. The results obtained indicate that 96% of the respondents recognized the importance of having accounting services within the company, a finding also supported by the interviewees’ responses. Among the respondents, the highest levels of dissatisfaction were associated with the Balance Sheet (5.8%) and the Notes to the Financial Statements (10.6%). A significant proportion of respondents reported being neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with the Cash Flow Statement (29.3%). In contrast, most respondents were satisfied with the Balance Sheet (55.1%), while 24.4% reported being very satisfied with the Income Statement. Therefore, the use of financial statements provides an optimal level of support to partners and/or managers of MSMEs, despite the fact that some respondents were unaware of the existence of these financial analysis instruments. Consequently, it is recommended that greater emphasis be placed on raising awareness of the importance of these indicators, as they contribute to more technically sound decision-making and the development of new business strategies. In accordance with our methodological framework, the findings of this study are based on the achievement of the proposed research objectives.
