This study aimed to analyze the benefits of pelvic floor physiotherapy during the pre- and postpartum periods, highlighting its contribution to the prevention and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunctions, pain relief, improved quality of life, as well as preparation for childbirth and postpartum recovery. This is a narrative literature review, descriptive and qualitative in nature, conducted through searches in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) and Google Scholar databases, in addition to consulting books and technical materials. Studies published between 2019 and 2026, available in full and in Portuguese, were included. In total, 12 studies were selected. The results showed that pelvic floor physiotherapy contributes significantly to the prevention and treatment of dysfunctions, such as urinary incontinence and prolapses, in addition to promoting improved muscle function, pain reduction, and greater preparation for childbirth. In conclusion, pelvic floor physiotherapy is an effective and essential strategy in promoting women's health during the pregnancy and postpartum period.
