ANALYSIS OF THE BRAZILIAN POPULATION'S INTEREST IN HAFF'S DISEASE: A STUDY OF ONLINE TRENDS

Abstract

This article analyzed online search behavior for Haff disease in Brazil between 2019 and 2024. It conducted a cross-sectional, quantitative study based on Google Trends to investigate the Brazilian population's concerns regarding Haff disease. The search terms used were "Haff Syndrome" and "Haff Disease." The research was limited to Brazil, covering a five-year period (2019 to 2024), with filters applied to the health and web search categories. The study demonstrated that Haff disease peaked at 100% in March 2021. The state of Amazonas led web searches for Haff disease, with 100% indicating the highest search popularity. Based on the analysis of data obtained through Google Trends, it is possible to observe that the Brazilian population's interest in Haff disease is directly related to the emergence of outbreaks and their link with fish consumption.
