THE IMPORTANCE OF NURSING CARE IN HUMANIZED CHILDBIRTH: IMPACTS ON THE MOTHER'S EXPERIENCE AND MATERNAL-INFANT OUTCOMES

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of nursing care in the context of humanized childbirth, analyzing the impact of nursing team practices on the experience of birthing women and maternal-infant outcomes. Based on a qualitative and descriptive literature review, the main challenges faced by healthcare professionals in promoting humanized childbirth were explored, highlighting the importance of women's autonomy and respect for childbirth physiology. The research revealed that, although public policies such as the National Humanization Policy and the Rede Cegonha program have encouraged humanized practices, implementation still faces obstacles, such as cultural resistance and precarious working conditions for nursing professionals. The study concludes that the role of obstetric nurses is essential in ensuring a safer, more respectful, and positive childbirth experience, emphasizing the need for joint efforts to overcome barriers and consolidate the humanized childbirth model in Brazil.
