This article sought to analyze the anatomical variation of the acromion in scapulae belonging to a university in the Western region of the State of Paraná, considering that Shoulder Impingement Syndrome (SIS) is frequently associated with acromial morphology, causing narrowing of the supraspinatus tunnel. This is a quantitative, observational, and descriptive research, in which 85 dry scapulae from the collection of the Anatomy Laboratory of the Assis Gurgacz University Center were evaluated. Visual inspection was performed using the Bigliani classification and morphometric measurement of the Acromion Length and Width, as well as the Acromiocoracoid (ACD) and Acromioglenoid (AGD) distances. The results demonstrated a predominance of Type II (curved) acromion with 64.71%, followed by Type III (hooked) with 18.82%, and Type I (flat) with 16.47%. The overall morphometric averages were: 41.38 mm in Length, 20.54 mm in Width, 29.94 mm for ACD, and 21.63 mm for AGD. It is concluded that there is a majority prevalence of Type II acromion, which confirms the presence of intrinsic anatomical risk factors for the development of SIS and rotator cuff injuries in the local population studied.
