Introduction: Humanization of childbirth is a care model that prioritizes respect, autonomy and the role of women during the birth process. This approach values listening, welcoming and the bond between professionals and women in labor. The goal is to ensure a safe, dignified and evidence-based birth. It is a care centered on women and their individual needs. Objective: To analyze the role of nurses in humanizing childbirth. Methodology: This research was developed through a literature review with a qualitative approach, focused on the analysis of scientific publications that discuss the role of nurses in promoting humanization during labor. Analysis and discussion of results: Based on the analysis of the selected material, three categories were structured to guide the discussion of this work: Nurses' role in childbirth care and its humanistic foundations, Barriers faced in the implementation of humanized practices in health services, and Strategies used by nurses to promote women's role and humanization of care during labor. Conclusion: It is concluded that the role of nurses in the humanization of labor is essential to promote care centered on women, which respects their autonomy and uniqueness. The valorization of female protagonism contributes to a safer, more welcoming and satisfactory childbirth experience, strengthening the bond between professional and parturient. This approach reflects the advance in the quality of obstetric care.
