This study aimed to identify, in the scientific literature, the strategies used by health institutions to promote the mental health of nursing workers. This is an integrative review, with searches in the LILACS, MEDLINE (via PubMed), BDENF and SciELO databases, of studies published between 2021 and 2026. Of the 530 publications identified, 10 made up the sample: six literature reviews and four cross-sectional studies. The institutional strategies described were work reorganization with adequate staffing, psychological and psychosocial support, mental health screening, listening and communication with management, and institutional occupational health policies. Recommendations predominated, and none of the included studies was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of implemented institutional programs. Health institutions need to turn these recommendations into permanent and evaluated actions to protect the mental health of nursing staff.
