Abstract

This article aimed to evaluate the experience of remote monitoring in patients undergoing minor and medium-sized surgeries in the period after hospital discharge. This is an intervention study, with a predominantly qualitative approach, conducted with 11 patients who underwent elective surgeries between September and December 2025, in a small hospital located in Cuité/PB. Participants were invited preoperatively and followed up for 30 days after hospital discharge via WhatsApp, receiving daily nursing care and clarification of doubts. After the follow-up, an interview was conducted to identify the participants' perceptions of the experience. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis in the Iramuteq software, while quantitative data were organized in spreadsheets and subjected to descriptive analysis. The results showed that participants perceived remote monitoring as a positive experience, related to continuity of care, strengthening of the bond, active communication, and encouragement of self-care. It is concluded that remote monitoring is an effective strategy to strengthen nursing care in the post-surgical discharge period.
