FACIAL MICRONEEDLING WITH PLATELET-RICH FIBRIN (PRF): A LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract

This study analyzes the efficacy and safety of combining Facial Microneedling with Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) as a skin rejuvenation technique, combining a minimally invasive procedure with an autologous biological material. The search for natural aesthetic treatments has driven the development of this approach, which is based on microneedling's ability to create microchannels in the skin to stimulate collagen production and on the regenerative power of PRF, which, rich in growth factors, is absorbed into the deeper layers, enhancing results. The research was conducted through a systematic literature review using a qualitative approach. The objective was to gather relevant information on the association between the two techniques, their benefits, and mechanisms of action. The analysis of seven articles revealed that the combined therapy is more effective than the use of each technique alone. Microneedling, although causing transient side effects such as erythema and edema, promotes skin strengthening and scar reduction. The combination of microneedling and PRF represents a promising and effective technique for facial rejuvenation, promoting cell regeneration and improving skin quality. Its superiority over isolated treatments and other blood concentrates has been demonstrated.
