ZOONOTIC TRANSMISSION OF SPOROTRICHOSIS AND ITS IMPACT ON PUBLIC HEALTH: A LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract

The sporotrichosis is characterized as a zoonotic disease caused by the fungus Sporothrix schenckii, classified as a subcutaneous mycosis of great importance and having the domestic feline as its main host. Therefore, the aim of this study was to conduct a literature review of studies that reported infections in humans and animals, showing the forms of transmission, clinical manifestations, diagnosis and prognosis. Thus, it is concluded that this zoonosis demands great attention from health agencies due to the damage caused to human and animal health, and the Veterinarian as a professional qualified to work in health only has great importance in the control and investment of the pathogen.
