The expansion of the concept of pharmaceutical assistance in Brazil has contributed to the transformation of pharmacies into healthcare establishments, where the pharmacist plays a fundamental role in promoting the rational use of medicines and providing safe patient guidance. Their role goes beyond dispensing, encompassing clinical, educational, and preventive activities. However, there is still a limited perception among some users, who associate pharmacists only with the sale of medicines, which may encourage practices such as self-medication. In this context, the present study aims to analyze customers' perceptions regarding the role of the pharmacist in public service in a pharmacy located in the municipality of Lagoa Salgada/RN, seeking to understand the level of recognition of this professional and their importance in healthcare assistance.
