The present study analyzes the relevance of emergency responders in the pre-hospital management of cardiac arrest (CA), as well as the need for continuous training aimed at the proper recognition and management of this condition. This is a synthesis based on the analysis of scientific literature addressing the management of cardiac arrest, including aspects related to basic and advanced life support, grounded in guidelines such as those established by the American Heart Association (AHA). The studies demonstrate that pre-hospital responders play a central role in the management of cardiac arrest, as they are often the first professionals to recognize the event, initiate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers, and coordinate the emergency care team. Furthermore, the literature highlights the need for ongoing theoretical and practical updating of these professionals in order to ensure effective care delivery. A scarcity of scientific publications in this field was observed, reinforcing the importance of encouraging further research. The literature review allowed the conclusion that emergency responders are essential in the management of cardiac arrest, and that their continuous training is indispensable for improving the quality of care and clinical outcomes. Strengthening continuing education and scientific production contributes to advancements in care and to the reduction of mortality associated with cardiac arrest.
