INDIGENOUS LAND: LAND DEMARCATION AND SOCIAL CONFLICT

Abstract

Although in the Brazilian Constitution has already recognized the right to the lands occupied by the indigenous people, the implementation of this right is flawed. This is due to the genocidal pressure that ruralist bench performs to take advantage of the lands for the advancement of agribusiness and mining. In this way, it is understood that there is no demarcation and, consequently, the lack of expansion of demarcations, since the State prioritizes economic development to the detriment of human rights, and also due to the history of discrimination and exclusion of indigenous peoples in Brazilian public policies.
